Sizing
All measurements are taken in inches with the garment laying flat and then doubled. Please allow a little extra room for a comfortable fit!
The modern sizes used on this site are only a rough guide because vintage sizes differ from modern ones. Please also bear in mind the fit you want for example jumpers and cardigans can be worn over sized or dresses and shirts with a belt. Please refer to our guide to ensure a proper fit and if you need further guidance check the measurements against one of your own garments.
BUST: taken from armpit to armpit
WAIST: taken from the narrowest part
HIPS: taken from the widest part
LENGTH: taken from mid shoulder or top of garment to bottom hem

Shoe Sizing
Sizing Vintage Footwear can be very difficult as the shoes can come from all over the world and are marked in sizes which are completely irrelevant to UK sizes. Also different size charts use slightly different measurements so the sizes always come up differently. On the site I have given an approximate size but also measured the shoes in inches so that you can measure your own feet to see if they will fit. As with the garments, please allow a little extra room for comfort!
LENGTH: taken from tip of toe to back of heel
WIDTH: taken from side to side of widest part of the foot
